Start at the shopping centre in Kudelstaart and head towards the Loswal, the former unloading quay and a natural point from which to appreciate the Westeinderplassen. Continue along the waterside in the direction of Leimuiden.
As you approach Leimuiden, the landscape opens into the characteristic Dutch polder scenery, with broad skies, dikes and waterways. Continue towards the village and cross the bridge over the Ringvaart to follow the route around the lake on the opposite side. The Ringvaart forms an important part of the water network connecting the surrounding villages and lakes.
Continue towards Aalsmeer, where the scenery gradually becomes more built-up. Look out for the historic Aalsmeer Water Tower, a prominent landmark overlooking the water. The lakeside paths offer opportunities to pause and enjoy the views before continuing through Aalsmeer and following the return route towards Kudelstaart.
Complete the loop by returning to the shopping centre in Kudelstaart.
