Definitely helps to have hiking boots, was very muddy underfoot for much of the trail. My poor friend fell several times in a pair of regular runners. Took us about 4 hours, with a 20 min lunch stop and we did a good bit of the start through thick undergrowth which I'm sure added a few minutes. Saw plenty of people with dogs on the trail. We did the trail in the opposite direction than indicated and enjoyed the riverside walk at the end, which is a nice relaxing way to end the hike

Lovely walk with the family. We actually made it an out and back via the higher route as the lower route (along the river) was very wet and mucky. Not stroller friendly, but fine with a child carrier backpack! A few benches along the way. Moderately busy on a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

The route lovely but it鈥檚 not available as described. After the summit on the way down, as you turn left at Wicklow Way fork there is no way to turn sharp left as that鈥檚 just bog on a steep descent with no visible trail. The only way available is to continue forward and get back on the board walk and get back to the point where you began the summit climb. This is about 8km roundtrip , back to the car park.
