This loop encompasses both the upper and lower lakes. The path is generally flat with some inclines leaving and enjoyable walk. You can complete either the upper walk or lower walk separately joining in the middle to make shorter loops. Trail runners or ordinary walking shoes are for this trail, hiking boots are not required. Vartry Reservoir itself is a reservoir at Roundwood in County Wicklow, Ireland. The water is piped from Vartry to a large open service reservoir in Stillorgan in the southern suburbs of Dublin.
