I intentionally departed from the route to visit the Bridge Inn, home of the World's Biggest Liar competition. I also intentionally departed from the route to take a footpath instead of a road, but after maybe half a mile I discovered that it was not taking me where I wanted to go. Despite sometimes heavy rain, the whole walk was beautiful! I had views of the mountains, views of Wastwater, views of the woods, and views of the countryside. These all became spectacular during brief moments of sun.
