Muddy! Not difficult but a bit of a trudge if doing it in its entirety, as I did. Took me five days. Some lovely views.

The middle 3 days were fantastic but finishing the walk on the hard pavements of Newcastle was quite painful, bring comfy shoes for that section!

Probably my least favourite national trail. I just don't think it works as a long distance walk. Not enough campsites on route, not enough shops to resupply. I ended up having to make a Chinese takeaway last for 2 days because I couldn't find a store. I was camped alone at each campsite and didnt meet any other hikers. The last couple of days are really boring. The Hadrians Wall section is amazing. But if you are interested in that stuff spend a few days exploring the wall and learning about the history. Or walk the Pennine Way as the stuff before and after the wall doesn't make for interesting walking in my eyes.

A nice trail to do and the history of the wall is nice to see. Significant amount of tarmac though, we completed in just under 3 days

We did it over six days and whilst days 3 and 4 were a wonderful slog over some epic crags with stunning scenery, the four days either side were mostly long, straight sections walking on or by a road.

We started in Newcastle and the first two days weren't great. After that the walk picked up wonderfully. Some beautiful scenery, excellent history and lovely places to stay

Would personally walk Carlisle to the A68 at Corbridge. Beyond this point it becomes a steady walk alongside a main road, with few visible remaining parts of the wall. That said, the rest of the trail us amazing.

An excellent, interesting route. I did it in 5 days West-East, and Day 3 was the longest day (Birdoswald-Chollerford), which was amazing but very up and down. Some impressive architecture on show. Sycamore Gap worth the wait.

I loved this walk. I took a group of 17 people from Newcastle to Solway and it was brilliant. The bits I was dreading were the 14 mile straight section along the river Tyne and the marshland at the end, but it was all good. We had amazing weather, lots of steep climbs, I loved the little passport with the stamps. It’s all good! Vlogged about it on YouTube. Search Adventure Geek / Hadrians Wall

The trail is really 2 parts the beginning is urban and uninteresting and the end is rural and uninteresting but the middle 40 miles or so are very very humbling and show’s just how much we take for granted our lives nowadays. I would highly recommend doing this walk to anyone interested in the history of the wall but only from Chollerford to Carlisle rest in my eyes isn’t worth wasting time on 👍
