Far from extra difficult but not so easy either. There's a bit of uphill pull yes but up before y know it and the shortness leaves you wanting more. We went down as we came as Im against unnessarily 5k on the road Fabulous moderate level walk. I read that its no pain All gain. The rough terrains and the Atlantic breeze on the open peninsula are what make it a tough ramble.

The route starts in a field behind a house - probably a good idea not to park in front of the house but down the road a short distance where there is a bridge crossing the river and there is a large gravel area which I think is the entrance to a quarry surrounded by a forested area. Keep an eye on the app as you approach the first summit as I ended up ascending a tricky shale patch and if I’d gone further to the left the ascent would have been a lot more straight forward. Stunning views as always in Connemara. A few boggy bits and no real path to follow at any point so definitely a hikers route rather than a day trippers route.
