“Discover breathtaking coastal views, rich history, and diverse wildlife on a rewarding Pembrokeshire adventure.”
The well way-marked Pembrokeshire Coast Path is one of the official National Trails in England and Wales, winding along some of the very best British coastline for 300km (186m). The start and end points of the trail are Amroth in the South and St. Dogmaels to the North. The route runs mostly close to the coast where possible, diverting around military and industrial areas. It passes 54 beaches and 14 harbours and offers evidence of human activity from the Neolithic age to the present.
The path was the first National Trail to be established in Wales and was opened in 1970. It lies almost entirely within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park – the only truly coastal National Park in Britain. From rugged and steep cliff tops to sheltered coves, winding estuaries and sandy beaches, the trail as a whole offers a formidable challenge which, with 35,000 feet of total ascent and descent, is said to be equivalent to climbing Everest. Both the Wales Coast Path and the International Appalachian Trail follow the route of the Pembrokeshire Coast path through Pembrokeshire.
Our Pembrokeshire Coast Path tours focus on the most popular – and slightly easier – 90km long Southern section, between Amroth and Pembroke. This section of the trail offers some of the best coastal walking in Britain and passes through charming seaside towns and villages such as Saundersfoot, Tenby, and Manorbier, before finishing at the impressive Norman castle in Pembroke.
It offers spectacular coastal scenery, wildlife and a landscape rich in maritime history and human industry. From Norman castles at Pembroke and Manorbier and the remains of a castle and extensive town walls at Tenby to Iron age promontory forts, cromlechs and early Christian chapels to Napleonic military forts and the remains of old brick works and lime kilns. But it is in the more remote and rugged sections of the trail, that the spell of the ancient ‘Land of Mystery and Enchantment’ that is Pembrokeshire can be most keenly felt.
