The 12.6km Glencorbet Horseshoe Loop in the Connemara National Park in County Galway is a moderate to challenging route over rocky ridgelines, wet bog and heathland sections and exposed hillsides with some steep ascents and descents, requiring a high level of fitness. Taking in the northern section of the Twelve Bens Mountain range, including the highest, Benbaun or ‘White Peak’ and the peaks of Benfree, Benbrack, Muckanaght. It is recommended in reasonable conditions as the route involves a river crossing, whilst the Connemara is known for its changeable alpine weather.
