The Devil's Glen - Seamus Heaney Walk

It was a super easy and fun walk with nice flat ground and beautiful views. This trail does a loop around the hill and then brings you to a waterfall. The walk was really easy and not that steep, EXCEPT for one part of the trail which we choose to take when we was going to the waterfall, me and my friends wanted to walk beside the river on our way to the waterfall and to get down to the trail next to it the original sheamus heaney displayed that there was a zigzag trail connecting to the trail beside the river. When we saw it was an insanely steep slope and all the plants and trees practically took up the path and it was not able to be seen clearly. We took a chance and went forward hoping to get to that trail. One of my friends accidentally lost his jacket on the way down so I decided to go get it. I couldn't find it and they will already screaming my name so I was trying to come back down the slope when I finally see them I see that they are on too far away from me so it's clear I took a different path. Now both paths were very steep but the one I took was extremely dangerous as there was no clear footing. By the time I was able to see them all I could see below me was 105 degrees slope and teg trail. As there were no way to climb back up I decided to take the risk and get down to the trail. 'This was a mistake' I realized this sliding and slipping midway through this slope, luckily I had a stick that I found which helped me stop sliding down the slope multiple times and injuring myself. Clinging on to trees was worse as some trees break apart from just the tiniest of force. when I'm nearing the end of the slope I told myself it seems safer now, I was wrong. it appeared that there was footing but it was illusion, all there was steps that was five foot tall and the footing was still extremely sloped, I went anyways using my stick to find footing and to help me secure a landing. then I kept on slipping all the way until I reached the trail. Do not go through this way when you are going to the waterfall instead either keep to the original trail or you could go around if you really want to walk next to the river. Other than that it was a really simple stroll with great scenic pictures.

Lovely walk with the family. We actually made it an out and back via the higher route as the lower route (along the river) was very wet and mucky. Not stroller friendly, but fine with a child carrier backpack! A few benches along the way. Moderately busy on a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

gorgeous forest walk with sightings of red squirrels. would actually rate it as easy but do suggest good hiking shoes as can be slippery and rocky in places.
