Point to Point
A really enjoyable half-day hike from Veneguera to Molino de Viento. The route is around 5 km with enough ascent to give you a good workout, but it never felt overly demanding. The scenery is the real highlight, with dramatic volcanic mountains, dry valleys, traditional stone walls and pockets of agriculture along the way. I particularly liked that the walk has a bit of history to it. You finish at Molino de Viento, where you can visit the restored windmill and museum. Seeing the huge wooden gears, millstones and the mechanism that turned the wind into something that could actually grind the grain really brought the history of the valley to life. I stopped for a coffee afterwards and then caught the bus back to Puerto de Mogán. The bus connection makes this a particularly good point-to-point walk, rather than having to retrace your steps. Global's Route 84 serves Molino de Viento and connects it with Mogán and Puerto de Mogán. A great little hike if you want to get away from the resort, see some spectacular mountain scenery and experience a bit of the traditional Gran Canaria. I'd definitely recommend it.
