Galtymore to Cush Mountain Loop

Challenging trail but absolutely worth it for the views. Definitely would need boots and gaiters in bad weather. We were lucky to get a stunning day

Only went up Galtybeg and then up Galtymore. Nice footpath along the beginning that then turns to wet bog land, eventually returning to a path again up the mountain. lovely scenery on a clear day, with lots of sheep around.

When you leave Clonmel heading for Fourmilewater you start into the foothills of the Comeraghs. Almost immediately the way sign points you on to an overgrown 'trail' where you must struggle through rhododendrons to find the barely visible trail. It gets worse. After you skirt the woods and head south you are directed to turn south and then confronted by large farm gates with warning signs. The gates are designed to make climbing them difficult and are surrounded by barbed wire fences. If you get over the gates you are on an 500m long mud path - with mud 10-15cm deep - until you reach the farmyard (presumably) of the farmer owner. This makes a mockery of efforts to encourage walking tourism in this country.
