The ridge over the Riedkopf is exposed and has no fixed cables. It requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. I did it with a 15–16 kg overnight pack after the steep climb from Mittenwald, and it felt very dangerous. Several hikers with day packs turned back on this section. I would not recommend it with a heavy pack or in wet conditions.
