Really enjoyable over two days, nice camp out. Not too strenuous, so some might find it dull, others find it nice and pleasant. Look forward to doing it again.

Great little walk over 2 days in wet conditions in March. The first day through the white peak is the easiest of the 2 before some more ascents on the second day as you hit the dark peak. A couple of points to watch out for - the bridge at Cressbrook Dale has been closed now for more than 2 years for safety reasons and is unlikely to re-open any time soon. The best alternative crossing is at Upperdale, if you are travelling south to north you will need to make sure you leave the Monsal Trail early. Also the crossing point of the River Derwent just south west of Hathersage is via stepping stones which were impassable for me because of high water levels. It’s a >2 mile diversion to the nearest alternative crossing point, but this can be mitigated if you make alternate plans early.

Great hike, be warned at roughly the two mile mark the path completely dissapears and you will be freeballing through pure bog. Tough terrain when not boggy (which is basically never) and you will only really start to get the views in the last three miles. But oh boy are the views at laddow rocks something else. Wear good water proof boots, do not chance it with trainer style shoes. Car park is free.
