Preparation and Planning

Weather in the Rockies can change rapidly, so be ready for varying conditions and start early to maximize daylight hours.

Safety and Etiquette

Always practice Leave No Trace principles to preserve the natural beauty of the area. Be mindful of the wildlife, maintaining a safe distance, and never feed the animals. It's also important to be prepared for altitude sickness, which can affect even seasoned hikers. Know the symptoms and take it slow if you're not accustomed to the higher elevations.
