Loved for its soft sandy beach and crystal turquoise waters, Crescent Bay on the Tasman Peninsula is a favourite swimming spot and the perfect halfway point on the Crescent Bay Walk; a 4 mi out-and-back trail that starts and ends at the Remarkable Cave car park, Tasmania. Before you set off, check out Remarkable Cave, a rock tunnel that’s been carved out by the sea, leading to a remote beach that’s only accessible at low tide. Then set off towards the Maingon Blowhole, another cave-like crevasse carved out of the cliff. The trail continues, following the Mount Brown Track until you reach the junction; going left you will continue on this well-signposted trail leading to impressive dolerite boulders to scramble over before you make it to the soft sandy beach Crescent Bay beach. For those looking to extend their walk, continuing straight at the junction will take them on the trail that climbs to the summit of Mount Brown at 156 m, with views out over the Peninsula’s wild coastline, and on clear days out as far as Tasman Island. The trail is graded as Medium difficulty and is usually completed in around 2 – 3 hours.
