Like something out of a storybook, this is a beautifully interactive short walk for the whole family; coming in at just under 1 mi / 1.3 km, the Enchanted Walk is a looped route suitable for most ages and abilities that starts and ends at the Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre within one of Australia’s most famous parks, the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania. A wonderous walk for all ages, this fairy-tale setting will keep children happy from start to finish. Relatively flat, it consists of some boardwalk and forest trail as it follows the pretty Pencil Pine Creek through a magical moss-covered temperate rainforest, passing beautiful cascades and wombat burrows, offering the chance to spot wildlife on route. Look out for wombats, more likely at dawn and dusk, whilst visitors regularly spot wallabies and echidna. There are even tunnels making it even more exciting for small explorers. The trail is graded as Medium difficulty although it is generally considered an easy trail that can be completed in around 30 minutes. For information on how we grade trails, please click here and caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here. At the Visitor’s Centre, there are accessible facilities, whilst the first section of this trail is also considered accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs or those with limited mobility. After the bridge, however, there are steps to navigate. ‘A valid parks pass is required for entry to Tasmania's national parks so make the most of your time in Tasmania and plan other walks on your route planner or walking app before you go. https://passes.parks.tas.gov.au/ Dogs are not allowed in Tasmania’s national parks and reserves for the protection and conservation of the park and its wildlife.
