Less than 2-hour drive from Adelaide you can enjoy far-reaching sea views from the Fleurieu Peninsula, a popular spot for local surfers, you’ll discover stunning views of the Newland Head Conservation Park’s protected Waitpinga beach and Parsons beach, along Encounter Bay and across to Kangaroo Island. The beautiful Coastal Cliffs Trail is a 5 mi looped trail that starts and ends at the Waltpinga Campground, off Dennis Road within the Newland Head Nature reserve and Conservation Park. The undulating coastal trail that is easy to follow, takes hikers and trail runners along some of the Heysen Trail and then a section of the Ridgeway Hill Walking Trail. This walking route is graded as Medium difficulty (for information on how we grade trails, please click here) and is usually completed in around 3 hours. (Caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here.) The track is fairly easygoing, with some steep rocky areas, sandy sections and singletrack coastal path, considered suitable for most fitness levels as the trail can be cut short or extended to suit. Dogs are not permitted in the Newland Head Conservation Park for the protection and conservation of the park and its wildlife.
