Walked this trail in 4 days 3 weeks ago, I nice easy going trail defo recommend to take the high routes tho for the View and a change of senary, alot of road walking that's why it rates a 3 star for me.

Decent walk. Loved the stuff around the lochs. Found the canal stretch pretty boring. Probably wouldn't do it again unless it was part of a bigger route. There are more interesting routes in Scotland.

Walked in 5 days, some stretches can be breath taking, others can be monotonous and boring. The long tarmac stretches killed my feet. Not much chance to stock up supplies on route as most of the settlements are fairly minor. Still a great trek!

This route improved as the days went on! I highly recommend the high route options the views over Loch Ness are unreal :) I Also recommend hiring a canal key for access to toilets and shower facilities at the trail blazer wild camp spots en route un the earlier sections. For a full video breakdown of the route check out my YouTube channel - Drunk On Wanderlust

I walked this twice, three years apart, once in May and once in September, managed to largely avoid midges except in the evenings in Fort Augustus. A few steep climbs which made me huff and puff but really enjoyable, even the one or two treks across high moorland were peaceful and revivifying. Slightly rainy days on both occasions but... it's The Highlands! I stayed in hostels along the path, all of which were fine, Morag's Hostel in Fort Augustus was very busy but had a good bar, the SYHA Loch Ness hostel was less busy and the shore of the loch was tranquil. The SYHA hostel in Inverness was a bit impersonal but in a quiet part of the city within an easy walk of the centre.

Walked this trail in 6 days. Very enjoyable and much quieter than the WHW. So peaceful with many areas of flat canal side or moorland interspersed with some reasonable ascents. Well signposted, no midges and Inverness is a great place to finish and spend a couple of days!

Completed in 4 days for Combat Stress charity with some other veterans, this was a fairly moderate hike with beautiful scenery all the way from start to finish.

This walk for me was awesome. I walked over 7 days. Some views left me speechless. The terrain was varied - canal tow paths, disused railway line, forest roads, forest single track, steep ascents and descents.

Walked it over 5 days in May 2022. Nice trail that improves as the walk progresses. Take the high routes, views are well worth it. The canal facilities key rental is worth it too, gets you access to toilets, showers and drying rooms.

Need to walk south to North to appreciate Loch Ness. Canal from Fort William can be boring, take plenty of food

Great route, lots of forests to shelter from the weather if needed, fairly easy hiking with nice stops along the way, super cool little hidden ECO site along the way (you can’t miss it) don’t be afraid of the giant PIG roaming around the site too 😂
