Set in Bunya Mountains National Park in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, this park is known for its abundant wildlife, permanent waterfalls and stunning vistas. It has a mild climate and morning and evening temperatures are therefore low. The park can be driven to from Brisbane via Toowoomba or Yarraman, or from Dalby, which is about 64km southwest. It Is accessed by several steep, windy roads, all of which are unsuitable for long and/or heavy vehicles and there is no fuel supply available when in the park. There are campgrounds, hiking trails and some picnic areas in the park and the QPWS Visitor Centre at Dandabah is open between 10am to 2pm most days.Park in either Danadabah car park, off Bunya Avenue, this is a campground and there are many facilities here; toilets, (wheelchair accessible), picnic tables, barbeques and showers, or Paradise car park, a little further north off Bunya Mountains Road with no facilities.The circuit trail passes by the waterfalls of Paradise, Little and Tim Shea, as well as going through the lush, green rainforest, open grassland and eucalyptus forest. This area is the most westerly area of subtropical rainforest in southern Queensland. The trail can be tackled in either direction although anti-clockwise may have less incline and better views. There are a couple of side tracks en route to lookout points if you wish to extend the length. A good area for birds, look out for the very colourful pitta bird. Whip birds and catbirds also live here. In the summertime, the forest floor is littered with pink flowers from the lacebark tree.This track is a 6.5km looped trail and is graded as Medium. For more info, click here. Dogs are not allowed in the national park due to conservation measures and the protection of wildlife. This trail is not suitable for wheeled chairs due to the steep inclines and terrain.
