Starting your adventure near Teton County, Wyoming, the Hermitage Point Loop Trail offers a scenic 16 km (approximately 10 miles) journey with an elevation gain of around 200 meters (656 feet). #### Colter Bay Starting from Colter Bay, the trail initially takes you through a forested area rich with lodgepole pines and Douglas firs. This section is relatively flat and offers a good warm-up for the more varied terrain ahead.
#### Heron Pond and Swan Lake About 3 km (1.9 miles) into the hike, you'll reach Heron Pond. This serene spot is perfect for a short break and offers excellent bird-watching opportunities. Continue for another 1 km (0.6 miles) to reach Swan Lake, where you might spot swans, ducks, and other waterfowl.
#### Jackson Lake Overlook Around the 6 km (3.7 miles) mark, the trail ascends slightly to offer stunning views of Jackson Lake and the Teton Range. This is one of the most picturesque spots on the trail, so have your camera ready.
#### Hermitage Point The trail then leads you to Hermitage Point, the furthest point on the loop, approximately 8 km (5 miles) from the start. Here, you'll find panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It's an ideal spot for a longer rest or a picnic.
