If driving, head towards the town of Twisp, Washington. From Twisp, take the Twisp River Road (County Road 4440) west for about 20 miles until you reach the South Creek Trailhead. For those relying on public transport, the nearest major bus stop is in Twisp, from where you may need to arrange a taxi or rideshare to the trailhead.### Trail Overview The trail begins at the South Creek Trailhead, located in a serene forested area. The initial section of the trail is relatively gentle, allowing you to ease into the hike. As you progress, the trail starts to ascend more steeply, offering a good workout for your legs and lungs.### Significant Landmarks and Nature Around the 3-kilometer (1.9-mile) mark, you'll encounter a picturesque creek crossing. This is a great spot to take a short break and enjoy the sound of flowing water. The trail continues to climb, and at approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in, you'll reach a series of switchbacks that offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.### Flora and Fauna The trail is rich in biodiversity. You’ll pass through dense forests of Douglas fir and western hemlock, and as you gain elevation, you'll notice the vegetation gradually changing to subalpine species.
