We parked at the Pen Pych Car Park which is rather remote and full of rubbish but is free! From here we headed NW on a prominent path that leads directly up to the main Waterfall. You would think that after seeing the "Main Event" the route would be a little drab but it has so much to give through-out, Ancient woodland, fast flowing streams, hidden waterfalls and a Settlement at our highest point overlooking Blaenrhondda & Tynwydd. As always, when undergoing a route previously completed, we needed to add in a variation. So today once over the footbridge over the Afon Rhondda Fawr, we handrailed its East Bank and on up to Nant Garreg Lwyd before cutting East up and across to the Settlement at 454m. Its a good path again down to Tynewydd then back on round to the Car Park for brandy, mince pies and clotted cream.. Yummy!
