ROUTE OVERVIEW The Nantlle Ridge is a classic skyline traverse on the western edge of Eryri, offering a perfect balance of accessible hill walking and hands-on scrambling. This file covers the complete 15km end-to-end journey from Rhyd Ddu to Nebo, crossing seven summits including the highest point, Craig Cwm Silyn (734m).
THE TERRAIN A mix of rocky mountain paths, grassy ridges, and short sections of simple scrambling. Unlike the central peaks, this western ridge offers constant coastal panoramas towards the Irish Sea and the Llyn Peninsula, with Yr Wyddfa framing the view behind you.
CHALLENGE RATING Physically demanding with some exposure. This route involves 1000m of ascent and requires a steady head for heights on the scrambling sections. It is a significant step up from standard hill walking but less technical than Crib Goch.
NOTE This is a linear route (point-to-point), so transport logistics are required to return to the start. Mountain Craft runs this as a fully guided small group day, check our profile for event dates and transport options.
