Out and Back
This short Northumberland hike covers about 1.63 km in roughly 30 minutes, with a steep elevation gain of around 73 m. Starting at Lordenshaw Car Park (55.283283, -1.918948) and ending on the east face of Simonside (55.282082, -1.928959) before retracing the same path back to the start, the route is brief yet demanding in places. The objective is the vantage point from Thompson's Rock (aka Solstice Stone) with a north-westerly view across the Cheviots. A popular hike during the Summer Solstice (21 June).
