This medium loop from Pentre Court Cottage climbs roughly 1,756 ft over 5.6 miles to the summit of Sugar Loaf, one of the best-known peaks above Abergavenny. Expect steady, sometimes steep ascents on open hillside with rewarding panoramic views across the Usk Valley and Black Mountains. The route then descends gradually back towards the cottage, mixing farmland, moorland, and classic Brecon Beacons scenery in a single half‑day outing.
