Loop
Starting at the beautiful ruins of Egglestone Abbey, this 6.5 mile circular walk takes you through open fields, peaceful woodland and some lovely countryside along the River Tees.
Along the way, you'll cross the historic Whorlton Bridge (now reopen), pass the old ruins at West Thorpe and enjoy views of Mortham Tower before crossing the Dairy Bridge at the Meeting of the Waters. The return takes you through Paradise Wood and back towards the abbey.
It's a steady, enjoyable walk with mostly flat fields and well-defined woodland paths, although there are a few stiles, gates and steps on the way.
