Historical Significance and Landmarks

The Black Hills area is rich in history, with the trail passing through areas that were once the heartland of the Lakota Sioux tribe. Hikers will also encounter remnants of old homesteads and gold mining operations, a nod to the Black Hills Gold Rush era.

Natural Features and Wildlife

The trail meanders through a variety of terrains, including ponderosa pine forests, which are home to a diverse array of wildlife.
