Hard walk, with rewarding views of the main Mourne Mountains and sea views over Newcastle.

As with all country parks, there are a number of trails you can do at Delamont. I always favour the longest route then add detours on if I think there is something worth seeing. It’s worth taking a detour off the path to visit Ireland’s tallest megalith, a free standing stone that was excavated from the Mourne Mountains and erected here to celebrate the millennium. The views over strangford lough and Gibbs Island towards the Mournes are stunning especially at sunset. If you live locally it’s worth getting a parking pass which gets you in to Delamont and Castlewellan Forest Park all year for £40 rather than paying £5 each time you visit.
