The nearest bus stop to the trailhead is “Zeist, De Boswerf,” just a short walk from the visitor center. If traveling by car, parking is available at the Bezoekerscentrum De Boswerf (Prins Bernhardlaan 3, 3708 BR Zeist), providing easy access to the start of the loop.

Trail Experience

The route meanders through the lush Zeisterbos, one of the oldest managed forests in the Netherlands, and passes by De Kozakkenput, a historic well with roots tracing back to the Napoleonic era. Legend has it that Russian Cossacks, stationed in the area during the winter of 1813-1814, dug the well to supply their horses with water. Today, the well stands as a quiet reminder of the region’s turbulent past.
