Natural Highlights
The route traverses several notable nature reserves:
- Waterloopbos: This area features a mix of deciduous and coniferous forests, coppice woods, grasslands, and ancient arable fields. The area is known for its historical significance in water management research.
- Weelbrug: Characterized by deciduous forests, small grassland plots, and various ponds, this reserve is also intersected by the Tungelroyse Beek.
- Ellburg: Situated along the Tungelroyse Beek, this small nature reserve is home to the Ellerschans, a historic refuge fortification. Discovered during the restoration of the Tungelroyse Beek, the Ellerschans consists of a piece of land surrounded by a moat and an inner earthen wall several meters high. It served as a refuge during the Eighty Years' War.

The trail offers opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife, including deer and numerous bird species. The diverse habitats support a rich array of flora, with seasonal wildflowers adding color to the landscape.
Historical Significance
The Ellerschans in the Ellburg reserve is a notable historical site. This ancient refuge fortification dates back to the Eighty Years' War and was used by local populations as a place of safety during conflicts. The structure includes a moat and an earthen wall, providing insight into the region's historical defensive strategies.
