Historical Landmarks

Further along, you'll encounter the 'holle weg' or hollow way, an ancient sunken road that has been in use for over 700 years, serving as a vital connection between Friesland and Drenthe.
Natural Highlights
The trail also passes by several pingoruïnes, such as the Harmsdobbe and Pûpedobbe. These are small, nutrient-poor lakes formed during the last Ice Age, now serving as habitats for unique plant species like water trefoil and snake root, as well as breeding grounds for various dragonflies.
Navigation and Amenities
To ensure a smooth hiking experience, it's advisable to use the HiiKER app for detailed maps and real-time navigation.
