Getting to the Trailhead
The trail begins at the parking lot on Middelstraat in De Moer. For those traveling by car, set your GPS to Middelstraat, De Moer, North Brabant. Public transportation options are limited; however, the nearest train station is in Tilburg, from which you can take a bus or taxi to De Moer.
Trail Overview
Starting from the Middelstraat parking area, the trail is well-marked with red signs. The path meanders through a mix of coniferous and deciduous forests, open fields, and along several fens, including the prominent Moerven. The terrain is predominantly flat, with an elevation gain of approximately 34 meters (111 feet) over the entire route.

- Moerven Fen: As the largest fen in the reserve, Moerven is a haven for birdwatchers. The area is teeming with frogs and dragonflies, especially during the warmer months. Keep an eye out for Scottish Highland cattle grazing in the vicinity; these gentle giants play a crucial role in maintaining the heathland ecosystem.
- Leikeven Lookout Tower: Approximately halfway through the hike, you'll encounter the Leikeven lookout tower. Climbing this 25-meter (82-foot) structure provides panoramic views of the surrounding heathlands and forests, offering a perfect spot for a rest and some photography.
