Historical Significance
The area holds cultural and historical importance, with archaeological evidence indicating human habitation since 3000 BC. To combat this, farmers planted trees, resulting in the mixed forests seen today. Additionally, near Dongen, along the Wilhelmina Canal, there's a reconstructed Iron Age farmhouse that brings history to life, especially during the warmer months.
