If you're coming from out of town, the nearest major city with an airport is Memphis, Tennessee, which is about 72 miles (116 km) northwest of New Albany. From Memphis, you can rent a car and drive to the trailhead. There is no direct public transportation to the trailhead, so a car is necessary for accessing the start of the trail.Trail ExperienceAs you set out from the southern terminus in New Albany, you'll find yourself on a path that was once a railroad line, now repurposed as part of the Rails to Trails Conservancy project. The trail surface is paved, making it suitable for both walking and biking.The Tanglefoot Trail will lead you through a variety of landscapes, including dense woodlands, wetlands, and open fields. The trail is lined with a diverse array of flora and fauna, providing opportunities for wildlife viewing.
