Hike begins at Aashleagh falls car park, hop the fences and begin up, start is extremely wet with the walking path obscured by tall grass, tall grass also hides the bog holes which are atleast a couple of feet deep, at the top of the ridge it is hiking as usual, becomes very easy once you've crested the top although the terrain is very wet in places. Waterproof footwear is a must, walking stick would've been great to have for the bog holes. Overall a great experience, beautiful views from the top.
Mweelrea Horseshoe and Ben Bury

The first ascent is steep with a little scrambling as you work your way up and around some gullys, once on the ridge it's stunning and pretty straight forward to Mweelrea. Descent is a bit of a slog as the last few km before the woods are boggy and tough going. Great hike and heaps of fun, took us 9hrs with plenty of stops and breaks.

Started at the turbines and finished in foxford village would highly recommend finishing in foxford as there is some really scenic backroads on this route that takes in some of the largenmore loop walkway and goes through some wooded areas. From the Turbines to An Chloc Mor it's 12.3 km which took me 3hrs and 30 mins, An Chloc Mor is a good place to break with nice views towards Nephin and benches to sit down. Route is very boggy in parts and it's a tough slog, the soggy terrain drains the energy out of the legs but some great views on the way and its well waymarked with white poles and yellow man poles every 500 meters or so. There is also a herd of wild goats that roam these mountains but are no danger. From the Chloc Mor break area, it's about 9km to Foxford, where good food can be got at the Foxford Woolen mills, and a great pint of Guinness can be got in Guirys pub.. Buses run to Ballina every hour, or the train is also an option. Enjoy
