A scenic hike through the Cooley Mountains, following open mountain trails towards the remains of the Deserted Village on Barnavave. The route climbs through rugged hillsides and quiet valleys, with sweeping views across Carlingford Lough and towards the Mourne Mountains. Along the way, you reach the atmospheric ruins of the old stone cottages, now slowly being reclaimed by the landscape. A beautiful and peaceful walk combining mountain scenery, history and a real sense of remoteness.
