Mullan itself is a historic mining town, and you can see remnants of old mining equipment and buildings along the way.
#### Mullan to Taft Tunnel The final stretch of the trail takes you from Mullan to the Taft Tunnel, covering approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). This section is relatively flat and follows the old railroad grade closely. The Taft Tunnel is a highlight of the trail, stretching nearly 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) through the mountains. Make sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp, as the tunnel is dark and can be quite cool inside.
