This trail is rated as medium difficulty, making it suitable for moderately experienced hikers.
#### Altschlossfelsen Continuing along the trail, you will reach the Altschlossfelsen after another 3 km (1.9 miles). This impressive sandstone formation stretches over 1.5 km (0.9 miles) and rises up to 20 meters (65 feet) high. The Altschlossfelsen is not only a geological wonder but also holds historical significance. It was once a site of ancient fortifications, and you can still see remnants of old walls and carvings. This area is perfect for a rest stop, allowing you to take in the panoramic views and explore the nooks and crannies of the rock formations.
#### Himmelsblick The final major landmark on this loop is the Himmelsblick, located about 2 km (1.2 miles) from the Altschlossfelsen. This viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Palatinate Forest and the distant Vosges Mountains in France. The elevation gain to reach Himmelsblick is around 100 meters (328 feet), making it the most challenging part of the hike. However, the effort is well worth it for the stunning scenery.
