This medium-difficulty trail offers a blend of natural beauty, historical landmarks, and a moderate challenge suitable for most hikers.
To reach the trailhead, you can drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, and look for parking near the village of Oberrid. For public transport, take a train to Wiesbaden and then a local bus towards Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, alighting at the nearest stop to Oberrid.

The trail begins with a gentle ascent through a mixed forest, where you can enjoy the serene ambiance and the sound of rustling leaves. After about 1 km (0.62 miles), you'll reach a small clearing that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. This is a great spot for a short break and some photos.
As you continue, you'll come across the remnants of an old Roman road around the 2 km (1.24 miles) mark. This ancient path is a testament to the region's rich history and offers a tangible connection to the past. The road was once a vital route for trade and military movements, and walking along it gives a sense of stepping back in time.
The trail is home to a variety of flora and fauna. In the spring and summer months, the forest floor is carpeted with wildflowers, and you might spot deer, foxes, and a variety of bird species. Keep an eye out for the European robin and the great spotted woodpecker, both common in this area.
Around the 3.5 km (2.17 miles) mark, you'll reach the highest point of the trail, am Nollen. The elevation gain here is about 100 meters (328 feet), offering a moderate challenge. From this vantage point, you can enjoy sweeping views of the Taunus hills and the Rhine Valley.
The descent begins gently, winding through more dense forest and eventually leading to a picturesque stream around the 5 km (3.11 miles) mark. This is another excellent spot for a rest and to enjoy the natural surroundings. The final stretch of the trail takes you through open meadows before looping back to the starting point near Oberrid.
