This point-to-point trail spans approximately 11 km (6.8 miles) with an elevation gain of around 100 meters (328 feet), making it a moderately challenging hike suitable for most outdoor enthusiasts.
To reach the trailhead, you can either drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to the nearest known address, which is the town of Neuruppin. From there, follow local signage to the trailhead. For those using public transport, take a train to Neuruppin West station. From the station, local buses or a short taxi ride will get you to the starting point.
The trail begins near the serene Tornowsee, a small lake surrounded by lush forests. As you start your hike, you'll be greeted by the calming sounds of nature and the sight of dense woodlands. The first section of the trail is relatively flat, making it an easy warm-up for the more undulating terrain ahead.
The region around Neuruppin is steeped in history. Neuruppin itself is the birthplace of Theodor Fontane, whose literary works often depicted the landscapes you'll traverse.
