Gamswand

This section of the trail is steep and demands a good level of fitness, but the vistas of the Bavarian Alps make the effort worthwhile. Keep an eye out for the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this region, including alpine flowers and, if you're lucky, the elusive chamois.

Soinsee

Continuing along the loop, you'll reach Soinsee, a serene alpine lake nestled amidst rugged peaks. This is an ideal spot for a rest, where you can enjoy the tranquility of the water and the reflection of the mountains. The lake is a habitat for various bird species, so birdwatchers should bring binoculars for a chance to spot some of the local avian life.

Steilenbach

The trail then descends towards Steilenbach, a charming mountain stream that meanders through the lush forest. This section of the hike is less strenuous, allowing you to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. The sound of the flowing water provides a soothing backdrop as you navigate through the dense woodland.

Navigation and Safety

Given the trail's difficulty rating, it's crucial to be well-prepared. Ensure you have sturdy hiking boots, sufficient water, and weather-appropriate clothing. The trail is well-marked, but it's advisable to use the HiiKER app for navigation to stay on track and avoid any potential detours. Weather conditions in the Alps can change rapidly, so check forecasts before setting out and be prepared for sudden changes.

Historical Significance

The region around Miesbach has a rich history, with settlements dating back to the Middle Ages. The trail itself traverses areas that have been used by local shepherds for centuries, and remnants of old shepherd huts can occasionally be spotted along the route.
