To reach the trailhead, you can drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to Märkischer Kreis, and look for parking near the village of Wiblingwerde. For those using public transport, take a train to the nearest major station in Lüdenscheid and then a local bus to Wiblingwerde. From there, it's a short walk to the trailhead.

Starting from Wiblingwerde, the trail immediately immerses you in the charm of this quaint German village. The traditional half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets offer a picturesque beginning to your hike.
As you leave the village, the trail meanders through dense forests, offering a serene environment filled with the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves. This section is relatively flat, making it a good warm-up for the more challenging parts ahead.
Around the 3 km (1.9 miles) mark, you’ll begin to notice a gradual ascent. The elevation gain here is about 100 meters (328 feet) over the next 2 km (1.2 miles). This part of the trail can be a bit strenuous, so take your time and enjoy the surrounding flora, which includes a variety of native trees and wildflowers.
Upon reaching Veserde, you’ll find a small but historically significant village. Veserde is known for its ancient church, which dates back to the 12th century. Take a moment to explore this historical landmark and perhaps enjoy a picnic in the nearby park.
As you loop back towards Wiblingwerde, the trail offers several scenic viewpoints. These spots provide panoramic views of the Märkischer Kreis region, with its rolling hills and lush valleys. This is an excellent opportunity for photography enthusiasts to capture the natural beauty of the area.
The trail is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and numerous bird species. Keep an eye out for these creatures, especially in the early morning or late afternoon. The flora is equally diverse, with oak, beech, and pine trees dominating the landscape.
The last 2 km (1.2 miles) of the trail are relatively flat and take you back through the forest towards Wiblingwerde. This section is a great cooldown after the earlier elevation gain, allowing you to reflect on the diverse landscapes and historical sites you’ve encountered.
