Trail Highlights

The trail, known as Drei-Bruecken Weg, translates to "Three Bridges Way," and as the name suggests, you'll encounter three charming bridges along the route. These bridges not only serve as picturesque spots for photos but also offer a glimpse into the region's historical infrastructure.

First Section: The Forest Path

Starting from the trailhead, the initial section takes you through a dense forest. The path is well-marked and shaded, making it a pleasant walk even on warmer days. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as deer and various bird species. The forest floor is often carpeted with wildflowers in the spring, adding a splash of color to your hike.

Second Section: The First Bridge and Open Fields

After approximately 3 km (1.86 miles), you'll reach the first of the three bridges. This wooden bridge spans a small, babbling brook and is a great spot to take a short break. Continuing on, the trail opens up into expansive fields. Here, you'll gain some elevation, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The fields are often dotted with grazing sheep and cows, adding to the bucolic charm.

Third Section: Historical Landmarks

Around the 6 km (3.73 miles) mark, you'll come across the second bridge, which is made of stone and dates back several centuries. This area is rich in history, with remnants of old mills and farmhouses visible from the trail. The elevation gain here is more noticeable, so take your time and enjoy the historical ambiance.

Fourth Section: The Final Bridge and Return

The final section of the trail brings you to the third bridge, a modern structure that contrasts beautifully with the natural surroundings. From here, the trail loops back towards Kulmbach, descending gradually through another forested area. This part of the trail is particularly serene, with the sound of rustling leaves and distant bird calls accompanying you.
