To reach the trailhead, you can either drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to the nearest known address: Moenchsweg, Kaiserslautern, Germany. For those using public transport, take a train to Kaiserslautern Hauptbahnhof (main station). From there, local buses or taxis can take you to the trailhead near Moenchsweg.
The trail begins with a gentle ascent through a mixed forest, where you'll encounter a variety of flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for deer, wild boar, and numerous bird species. The first significant landmark is the Quaitersberg, a hill that offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This section is approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) into the hike and involves an elevation gain of about 100 meters (328 feet).
As you continue, you'll come across the Huegelgraeber, ancient burial mounds dating back to the Bronze Age.
