If driving, head towards Hildesheim and follow signs to the nearby village of Diekholzen, where you can find parking near the local church. Continuing on, the trail opens up to a series of meadows around the 5 km (3.1 miles) point, providing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Harz Mountains in the distance. This section of the trail is relatively flat, allowing you to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery.
