Großer Burgberg, Tiefe Kohlstelle and Radau via Harzklub Weg

Starting near the picturesque town of Goslar in Germany, this 13 km (8 miles) loop trail offers a moderate challenge with an elevation gain of around 300 meters (984 feet). The trailhead is conveniently accessible by both public transport and car. If you're arriving by train, Goslar Station is the nearest major hub, and from there, local buses can take you closer to the trailhead. For those driving, parking is available near the starting point, which is close to the Harzklub Weg.

Initial Ascent and Großer Burgberg

The trail begins with a gradual ascent towards Großer Burgberg. This initial climb is a great warm-up, offering a mix of forested paths and open clearings. As you ascend, you'll notice the dense beech and spruce forests that are characteristic of the Harz region. Keep an eye out for local wildlife such as red deer and various bird species, including the black woodpecker.

Tiefe Kohlstelle
