Freising Cathedral to Kapellenweg (0-3 km / 0-1.9 miles): The initial section of the trail takes you through the town and into the countryside. You'll walk along Kapellenweg, a path named after the numerous small chapels dotting the route. These chapels, some dating back several centuries, offer a glimpse into the region's rich religious history.
Kapellenweg to Giebinger Holz (3-7 km / 1.9-4.3 miles): As you continue, the trail leads you into the Giebinger Holz forest. This section is particularly scenic, with dense woods and a variety of flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including deer and various bird species. The forest provides a cool, shaded environment, making it a pleasant walk even on warmer days.
Giebinger Holz Loop (7-11 km / 4.3-6.8 miles): The loop within the forest is the heart of the trail. Here, you'll experience gentle inclines and declines, with the highest point offering a modest elevation gain of around 100 meters (328 feet). This part of the trail is well-marked, but it's always a good idea to have a reliable navigation tool like HiiKER to ensure you stay on track.
