The path here is well-trodden but can be rocky, so sturdy footwear is essential. As you climb, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of Coniston Water and the surrounding fells.
Brim Fell (4 km / 2.5 miles, 500 meters / 1,640 feet elevation gain): Continuing from the Old Man of Coniston, the trail leads you to Brim Fell. This section is less steep but still challenging, with a gradual ascent that offers breathtaking views of the Lake District. Brim Fell stands at 796 meters (2,612 feet) and provides a quieter, less crowded experience compared to the Old Man of Coniston.
Top of Broad Slack (6 km / 3.7 miles, 700 meters / 2,300 feet elevation gain): The final stretch takes you to the Top of Broad Slack. This part of the trail is more rugged and less defined, so using a navigation tool like HiiKER is highly recommended. The terrain here is a mix of grassy slopes and rocky outcrops, offering a sense of solitude and wilderness. At the summit, you'll find expansive views that stretch as far as the eye can see, making the effort well worth it.
The trail is rich in biodiversity. Keep an eye out for red deer, which are often seen grazing in the higher elevations.
