Starting from West Marden, the trail heads north through open fields and woodlands. After about 3 km (1.9 miles), you will reach the village of Compton. Continuing from Compton, the trail ascends gently through the South Downs National Park. After another 4 km (2.5 miles), you will arrive at Up Marden.
