The Northampton Round has many pros and cons. However, what I will say is this, Northamptonshire has shunning countryside, quaint little villages and many interesting places of historical significance that fall along this trail. Not one for the novice walker, you will need to keep your wits about you due to poor signage and lack of way-makers. Some sections have lots of way-markers and at times you won鈥檛 see one for miles upon miles. Expect overgrown and unkept footpaths, locked gates that need climbing over because the local authority does not invest time nor money in managing the footpaths and bridleways in this county. It鈥檚 the standard of footpaths that let this route down however, if you like a challenge this maybe the one for you. My favourite parts of this trail: Pitsford Reservoir, Salcey Forest, Stoke Bruene & the final section from Harlestone Firs towards Brixworth country park. The villages are interesting, do take the time to explore the local churches. There are some pubs and cafes along the route. Brixworth country park has public toilets and a cafe. Which is the start and end point. I completed this trail over four days. Brixworth Country Park to Ecton Ecton to Ashton Ashton to Harpole Harpole to Brixworth County Park
